LMCS's own Mackenzie Carlson is on the ballot for the Times Herald-Record's Varsity 845 girls basketball player of the week of Jan. 30-Feb.5. The reason for her nomination, the THR said, is "she scored 17 points as Manor downed Liberty 38-23 on Monday. Two nights later she scored 20 points in a 36-10 win over Roscoe." Voting is open until 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. The tally is close. Food as art! The Foods and Nutrition recently created gardenscape focaccia bread, as the final project from the breads unit. Before making the bread, students learned about quick breads including crepes, muffins, pancakes and yeast breads. The students had to design their projects before beginning the mixing and baking process. The design was an important part, student Anthony Mendoza said. "My Partner, Alicia Negron and I decided that we both wanted to implement a flower scene onto our bread. After putting on the ingredients of our choice, we quickly realized that our picture was missing something. With our quick problem solving skills, we decided to include a fence onto our dish."

Livingston Manor kindergartners celebrated Chinese New Year in style as they took a walk to Chinatown Kitchen for lunch on Friday. They welcomed the kindergartners as they have every year around this time. Each student ordered a full lunch, sat with friends and each was given a traditional red envelope with a special something inside in the hopes of a happy and healthy new year. Having an entire kindergarten grade in your restaurant isn't easy, we can't thank Chinatown Kitchen enough for allowing us to enjoy their restaurant together! Gung hay fat choy! Happy New Year!
