Livingston Manor Library began hosting a monthly Sensory Play Series for children and their families in February. The Sensory Play Series targets neurodiverse children ages 3-10 and their families and seeks to provide children with an experience that is flexible and responsive to their natural play style. It is inclusive of the whole family, offering caregivers tools and games they can play at home to further connect with their child. Each month will model sensory play, focusing on a different sense i.e. sight, sound, touch, smell, taste and movement/balance led by artist and producer Jess Kaufman. The second program, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, will focus on smell. There will be musical accompaniment by Joe Bergstein. Those who wish to attend are asked to sign up at the library by calling 845-439-5440, emailing livingstonmanorlibrary@rcls.org or visiting livingstonmanorlibrary.org/programsignup.

LMCS honored two former colleagues last week by wearing flannel and Audra Sipple Spath Scholarship shirts. Grant Wehrfritz and Audra Sipple Spath each taught at Livingston Manor Elementary School for more than 30 years and were good friends. Audra was the coordinator of honoring Grant for National Flannel Day since he had such a "flair" for sporting his flannels on each school day. Since Grant's death, LMCS has celebrated National Flannel Day annually in his honor and chose to honor Audra this year as well.
